Hello!

Message from the directors

It is our great pleasure to welcome you to our website. If you have a passion for learning and feel inspired to lead the next generation of children to fulfil their potential, then Central England Teacher Training is the provider for you. Our mission at CETT is to enable and empower trainee teachers to become outstanding, innovative and inspiring teachers.

At CETT, theory and practice is truly integrated in an exciting learning experience, where trainees observe and support outstanding teachers whilst also developing their understanding of educational theory alongside their own teaching practice. Our school experience based training gives our trainees the unique opportunity to learn in a thriving, multicultural community where more than 40 languages are spoken by the children. Trainees will have experience of working with outstanding practitioners and children in all year groups of the Primary School from day one of the programme, giving them a head start to their training in a practical ‘hands-on’ approach and within an inspirational learning environment.

Learning to teach at CETT gives trainees the opportunity to:

  • Select 1 of 2 routes – General Primary (5 – 11 years), Primary with Early Years (3-7 years)
  • gain a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)
  • gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • gain up to 60 credits towards a Masters Qualification
  • benefit from fantastic career prospects

“It is precisely the possibility of realizing a dream that makes life interesting.”

~ Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

What do we offer?

CETT offers graduates a high quality school-based primary teaching programme, developing well-prepared and inspired trainees with a positive and reflective attitude towards educating children. As well as a clearly structured taught course which comprises an blend of theory and practice, the course offers each trainee a minimum of 120 days in classrooms in different partner schools from across the West Midlands.  We aim to provide a programme which encourages trainees to engage in dialogue through interaction, critical thinking and reflection.

At Central England Teacher Training SCITT you select 1 of the 2 routes into teaching:

Primary with Early Years

(3 – 7 years)

General Primary

(5 – 11 years)

Is this the right course for you?

Are you enthusiastic, hardworking, well organised and ready for a challenging but rewarding year with CETT SCITT?

  • Are you able to inspire and motivate children?
  • Are you able to articulate clear and appropriate reasons for wanting to teach?
  • Are you interested in the process of education and learning, for your pupils and also for yourself?

Trainees on our course come from a variety of backgrounds; some are straight from University and others have already had previous careers, both within and ouside of education. We welcome all applicants equally.

In our selection process, we are looking for candidates who have the passion and the potential to make the most of a course which ultimately equips them to become an excellent teacher and a credit to the profession.
